Agriculture is deeply rooted in Illinois' culture, economy, and values. Community bankers throughout our state value their working relationships with Illinois farmers and agribusinesses. Bankers and farmers in agricultural communities have always been committed to succeeding together. To preserve the bankers' rich tradition of agricultural lending, the IBA is involved in a variety of farm and rural issues.
The IBA's Agricultural Advisory Committee is comprised of agricultural bankers from throughout the state. This committee
- Keeps bankers informed of current issues;
- Recommends education programs and develops the agenda for the Ag Banking Conference;
- Advises the IBA Board of Directors on agricultural policy positions; and
- Interacts with other agricultural interest groups and policymakers.
In addition, the IBA is involved in a wide range of agricultural and rural lending activities, including lobbying on behalf of agricultural bankers; working with the State Treasurer's office, Department of Agriculture, Illinois Finance Authority, and other state agencies to provide lending resources; monitoring the Illinois Grain Insurance Fund; and leading our industry in the fight against the Farm Credit System and other lenders that create an unfair lending environment.
